You are not closer to Lebanese people than to Irish, intermediate at most. Poles are closer to Irish, Portuguese are closer to Irish, Sicilians are closer to Lebanese, but not enough to make you closer overall.

But it is highly doubtful that most Southern Italians in real life (Italian Americans are a different matter) would feel closer to Lebanese people than to Irish people.

Well "feeling" doesn't mean the genetics change, so I disregard how people "feel" and prefer to go with what is true.

I am perceived as 100% Sicilian until people know otherwise. But then once they find out I have Cape Verdean in me, I am viewed differently. No one views me as Polish.

But in terms of culture, I doubt Sicily has much if at all more in common with Lebanon than with Ireland. (For starters, Sicilians and Irish have both traditionally been very Catholic).

Who cares, your 1.56% SSA won't make you closer to Lebanese. You're closer to the Irish, that's the way it is.

Lebanese Christians are usually Catholic (Maronites, anyway). With that said Sicilians are delusional if they think they look more like the Irish.

It's 1.56% on one calculator, it varies on others. The fact you have that number memorized is concerning to me.

Anyway, moving on. By and large I feel more respected and happy on TA than when I first joined, where I would regularly lock horns with members as diverse as Anthropologique, Peyrol and Raine.

You are cool, a great topic starter, and you listen to a lot of Gloria Estefan lol!! ...Your explanations are sane and rational.
