    Orly?

OT: What is exactly this "Ashkenazi look"? Jewish could resamble many ethnicities in Europe.

I'm talking about the classical Jewish look.
Both jews and sicilians are one of the purest early European farmers. Sicilians in particular. Sicilians are the closest European group to jews. Jews lived in Italy quite some time and they're very south Euro influenced as well.

Another way of putting it that I think makes sense (and this also applies to the Maltese):

In addition to significant Neolithic West Asian (Anatolian and Caucasian) DNA, Sicilians also have some degree of Levantine input, shared with the ancestors of Israelites, Phoenicians, etc. Likewise, Ashkenazim have significant ancestry directly from Italy, especially the north of the country, obtained before the Jews moved into the Rhine Valley, and many Sicilians have historical admixture from further north in Italy.

Together these two elements will make both groups quite similar, as they share similar ancestors both in Italy and in the Near East, and quite low North European input.

No they aren't lol. Jews aren't pure farmer, their paternal side comes from straight up swarthy semites that other Levantines also descend from. Sardinians are the closest to pure farmer, and they are nowhere near sicilians or jews genetically.

    Please...
Jews lived in many other countries too probably for even more time. Ashkenazi in particular are the Jews of Central Europe.

The Ashkenazim settled and established communities throughout Central and Eastern Europe, which was their primary region of concentration and residence from the Middle Ages until recent times. They subsequently evolved their own distinctive culture and diasporic identities.[17] Throughout their time in Europe, the Ashkenazim have made many important contributions to philosophy, scholarship, literature, art, music, and science.

By the high medieval period, Talmudic commentators like Rashi began to use Ashkenaz/Eretz Ashkenaz to designate Germany, earlier known as Loter,[36][38] where, especially in the Rhineland communities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz, the most important Jewish communities arose.

Jewish letters referred to the Crusaders as Ashkenazim.[38] Given the close links between the Jewish communities of France and Germany following the Carolingian unification, the term Ashkenazi came to refer to both the Jews of medieval Germany and France.

Whether you like it or not, Ashkenazis share their paternal ancestry with Palestinians, Lebanese, etc, and their maternal line comes from North Italy. They are genetically closer to Levantines and even Bedouins than they are to French.

Maybe Eupedia is inaccurate, but not that inaccurate...
