    The west is more liberal/secular.

I would say South Italy (including Sicily), Balkan Orthodox countries, and Western Turkey.

According to our character I would say we are the same as Balkan people, Italians, South French, Spanish, Latin Americans, and westernized Turks.

In some other factors (music, food, etc) we do have some Arab influences too.

I do think southern Italy and Balkans both have substantial cultural similarities but in different ways. While the food is the same and music styles with the Balkans, you can go to the Aegean islands and the overall vibe -- the laid back demeanor, the way people dress, the social dynamics -- are the same as Sicily. So it varies.
You are right about the Aegean being soothing - but please do not talk about the vibe as you have never been.

is that hat of "only pashtuns" or does it belong to other ethnicities as well? until now the only afghans wearing it that i have seen are pashtuns
