Yes !! In the video he explay Italian and Spanish have 82% lexical similarity.
82% of words of one language will have cognates ( equivalent words ) in the other language.
But if we look only to lexical similarity Spanish has more in common with portughese ( 89%) than italian.
And Italian has more in Common with French (89%) than with spanish (82%)
But Spanish and Italian are more similar in pronunciation , so more intelligibility.

I notice that i the video , who speak in spanish is a mother language while who speaks in italian is not :-p

the interesting fact is that if you can speak spanish you can learn italian and portughese in a relative short time and make your curriculum richer

Italian is the most similar language to Spanish after Portuguese.
