No, Middle east proper is actually southwestern Asia and Egypt.

North Caucasus is part of Europe, and Transcaucasia is northwestern Asia.

I consider the Caucasus region to be at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
In Armenia, we consider ourselves South Caucasians or Trans-Caucasians ("Andr-Kovkaz" in Armenian).
We do not consider our country to be in the Middle East. We differentiate ourselves from Middle Eastern nations.
If Armenia were to be considered Middle East, I think we would stand out because we are Christians, and the Middle East is culturally Islamic.
