The Roma and Irish Traveller are different groups of people. The word "Gypsy" is really confusing the issue. The Irish Traveller have had a few genetic studies done on them and they are just a subset of the Irish. They have drifted a bit due to endogamy.

This is a bit difficult to see but it is from the Irish DNA Atlas which hasn't been released yet.

They are thought to have diverged from the general Irish population about the 1300s.

Grace O'Malley, I see these people are different genetically. But the point of my question is: Who is more Gypsy to you, a cultural Gypsy or a genetic one.
    Do what you should.

So what makes you Gypsy besides your half-Gypsy genetics?

By this logic if say a French has a lot of African blood is he an African rather then French?

But some nations are historically quite diverse blood wise. France too. And the Americans... this nation is not real if judging by blood.

maybe but a mullato would still be seen as black and not french. some are politically correct and say he is french too but most wouldnt see him as french. its different if you are diverse but white. but it doesnt even need to be about look or genetics, a half gypsy half african would still be more gypsy then a irish traveller too even if he looks african and not gypsy, because he has half gypsy blood but a irish traveller has zero gypsy blood.
