It has a similar size of France, a similar Population too even though it is habited by this following ethnic and sub ethnic groups: Slovenes, Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), Bosnian-Serbs, Bosnian-Croats, Albanians (Ghegs and Tosks), Albanians from Kosovo, "Macedonians", Albanians from Macedonia, Bulgarians, Romanians, Vlachs, Bulgarian Turks, Aromanians, Montenegrins which are not the same thing as Serbs, Ancient Arabs, Ashkalis, Arvanites, Sarakatsanis, Pontians, Labs, Greeks from Crimea, Tsakonian Greeks, Cappadocian Greeks, Hungarian minorites in Croatia, Romania and Serbia, German minorites in the Balkans, Goranis, Arabs from Macedonia and of course Gypsies who are spread through the entire region.

I Think it will be essential for the Balkans to continue to have peace for next years. A War right now would be a humanitarian disaster.

The Balkans experienced whole tribal migrations (Slavic in the 7th, Bulgar in the 8th, etc) settling in abandoned or conqurered territory. OR Byzantine (who settled many Anatolians and Cappadocians in Thrace following the Arab raids) or Ottoman or Austro-Hungarian resettling WHOLE nations. The natives rarely had a say, as these population displacements was caused by conquest, or imperial or caliphal decrees.

In Western Europe there are no Sultans or Ceasars dictating to the peasants who will be their new 'neighbors' in the village square.

If anything Western Europe is VERY similar to where Abbasid caliphate of 9th century found itself.


21st century Western European leaders cannot trust the native locals to re-elect them, so they hired 'mercenary' voting bloc in the form of Asylum seekers/Refugees...and the Abbassid Caliphs could not trust the native locals to serve them militarily...so they hired 'mercenary' fighting bloc in the form of Turkic slaves from central Asia. Did they imagine that in a few centuries, these slaves will become their lords in the form of Mamelukes etc? No, they were motivated by the short sighted stuff that motivates all leaders.

Not true. In Bulgaria all ethnic groups coexist peacefully and respect one another, except gypsies, who are hated by everyone for their parasitic way of life.
