I currently live in Nsk and I spoke to a girl who recently moved away from Omsk. She said the city is a big failure of local authorities. Roads and building are in terrible condition, there are very few job vacancies for people as well. She said a rumor was heard the whole region would be denied its status and added to Nsk region. Sounds way too far-stretched. I don’t think it’s more than a rumor but it’s quite indicative. I’m going to visit this legendary city myself when I have free time, but after this unexpected confirmation of validaty of all jokes about Omsk I rather believe it's indeed a depressed city.
