European as a term is equally boggy, and historically white meant Anglo-Saxon. Both are social constructs, and not useful ones at that.

I guess middle eastern, perhaps? Um, I can't really say considering that Afghans as a whole are distinct from both South Asians and the Middle East, but I'd say they're more closer to Iranians than anything. At least in my opinion.
