Should rich people suppport their low class relatives?

These two rich famous brazilian actors(siblings)


abandoned their low class grandmother and grandaunt


their grandmother claims for help

Alimony is a legal obligation on a person to provide financial support to their spouse before or after marital separation or divorce. What does that have to do with the other family members?

It makes more sense that people help their relatives. I'm not sure why people would abandon their relatives, but it should ultimately be that person's choice how they spend their money.

Like, if the grandmother and aunt raised those two rich siblings, and the rich siblings just left them in poverty, yeah, that's fucked up, but charity should not be enforceable by the government. :-/
