Bosnian language teaching in Turkish schools

The Bosnian language will be taught at Turkish schools this year according to an agreement between the two countries.

The first such class -- attended by a Bosnian government minister -- was held on Tuesday in Istanbul's Mehmet Akif Inan Primary School in the city’s Bayrampasa district.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Education Minister Elvira Dilberovic told a group of around 20 students: "Language is part of a country.”

"If you want to enter into the spirit of a people, you should learn their language. That is how we will bring together the spirits of the two countries," she added.

Spoken mainly in Bosnia by about 2.2 million people, Bosnian is also an official language in Montenegro and Serbia.

As part of a protocol signed between Turkey and Bosnia in 2015, the language will be an elective course starting in September 2017.

Turkish Deputy Education Minister Orhan Erdem said Turkish was already being taught in over 80 schools across Bosnia.

Thousands of Bosnian students could visit Turkey after they studied Turkish, Erdem said.

"Those students who choose to learn Bosnian as a foreign language will have the chance of visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina," he added.

These Balkan Muzzies call their Serbian-Croat language 'Bosnian, and teached in my country also we didnt invite them here, they are immigrants with citizenship. the future for Turkey is with MENA not Europe .. Europeans don't welcome Turkey , you gonna be isolated unless you blend in with the MENA.

I will learn Serbo-Croat and İ will enter in your spirit like minister say. They try to fool Türks even in link. Title says its Türkish students will learn but its for Bosniak, Sancak kids in Bayrampaşa and Turkey minister says its like English but no this is Ethnik language.

Why do you have to write like you are mentally challenged? The oldest "South Slavic" written document is Bosnian and the first Bosnian dictionnary is 200 years older than the serb one and even when talked you can hear that serbs remove letters they cannot pronounce. Serbo-Croat is a communist invention, maybe you should join PKK if you like communism so much.

how does that affect your life witness ? as long as the bosnian language lessons are not an obligatory subject which all students have to take participate in I dont understand where the problem is ?

This is an important step forward. Next up, Bosnia's government should try to get some of these Bosniaks to come back to Bosnia, especially the richer ones. I heard there are some Bosniak businessmen who are quite successful in Turkey.
