This is puzzling to me. Western liberals - activists, politicians and media - are actively and openly supporting and advocating on behalf of Islamists all over the world. This is evident in the liberal media and in statements by liberal politicians and reporters. European and American. Examples include them supporting Islamists in Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya etc etc. Secularists in these countries are vilified and being misrepresented by the liberal media often as they side with the cause of the Islamists.

Because they have a revolutionary Marxist agenda and supporting minority or supposedly disadvantaged groups against the mainstream is consistent with that agenda. They just want power, to get elected, so they can begin their transformation of society, They will support anyone who they think will vote for them, irrespective of the damage, and they don't care about harming a societal structure that they want to overturn anyway.

Besides, the Marxists lost their white male working class support base, so they have to appeal to others, meaning women, immigrants, Muslims, indigenous peoples, etc.
