North American Amerindians went to war and pushed out other tribes for their land (for example the Lakota were pushed into modern day North and South Dakota by rivals) but for some reason we have a different standard for Europeans.

That's why the entire population of North/South America were exterminated by European(English, Spaniards, Portuguese etc) colonists? There are still native American communities where they have special privileges that other Americans and Canadians don't have. There are also areas in Mexico and other Latin American nations (such as Bolivia) where the population is pure Amerindian. This is in stark contrast to other civilizations that have culturally wiped out and assimilated other peoples through out history.

That argument doesn't work when you're approached by an oppressed group tired of being oppressed. 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' is a better explanation of events.

If you criticize A for its behavior towards B but ignore that B acts like A towards C then you have what is called a double standard. The standard itself is irrelevant. What matters is if you apply that standard equally.
