Default Does Your Country Hold Annual Nationwide Birdwatch Surveys?

As this weekend is the UK's annual Big Garden Birdwatch survey which is the world's largest bird survey, I'm just wondering and curious to know if other nations like to participate in any nationwide surveys of birds?

It's garden bird survey. Much of the native birdlife are forest birds which sometimes venture into small native patches within NZ cities fringes.

I'd love to visit NZ as it's called the most beautiful nation in the world. I'm sorry to hear that cute and adorable kiwi birds are endangered. Very, very sad.

They're so endangered that these little souls are struggling to find a mate...

It's sad that if birds break their wings it's like a death sentence for them. I don't think broken wings can be surgically repaired. I read that hundreds of housands of birds die in the US every year from window strikes into tall building with lots of windows, such as skyscrapers. It helps to put UV anti bird crash stickers onto windows and clear surfaces that birds can't see well.

Piwi the kiwi broke both legs in separate accidents and after surgery to repair the breaks staff at Massey University's wildlife ward used regular treadmill exercise to help strengthen Piwi's legs.

I've family who returned 400 hectares of hill country farm back into regenerating bush as they're conservation-minded folk. They also added a large pond for endangered blue teal ducks.

We stay up there once in a while and you can hear the Kiwis at night. Interestingly, as cute as they may seem, they are aggressive, territorial and quite anti-social birds. But for conservation purposes, super cuddly

Amongst the natives, my favourite is the intelligent Kea and the awesome fantail. When we tramp, the Fantails flitter around you but with a purpose. When walking, we're disturbing the insect life and they're eating them.

When we've been up North at our relatives, due to the lack beds, most are in tents or campers and they hear these noises and freak out. Thinking there are pigs fighting or some other wild creature very close by.

Luckily it's just Kiwis getting territorial or fighting over a female.
