Also, Pakistan is pretty influential in the region. They have a population of 200 million people, a nuclear arsenal, a large well-equipped military. Not to mention, that Pakistan is de-facto China's greatest ally. The region it is also situated in, also helps, without Pak, the US would lose supply routes to "anti-terror" missions in Afghanistan, and basically be unable to support their forces. Also, if Pakistan is alienated, Iran and Pakistan would obviously form a kind of alliance, maybe even alongside China and Russia. I'm not really sure if you understand geopolitics or not. I thought Trump was an outsider; but he seems to be following the traditional US way of thinking that invaded Iraq for supposed revenge of 9/11 which it had nothing to do with. This law is clearly a bait for his voters; to seem consistent with what he previously said, he knows his voters will not get to the bottom of it and just fall for the headline. Otherwise not a genuine attempt to keep Islamism off the country. It has nothing to do with Muslims. Yemen is a poor country bombed by the terrorist Saudi state everyday. The countries mentioned in the Visa ban were those listed as security threats during the Obama administration (meaning legislation was already in place to legally bar immigrants from those regions before, just that Obama didn't enforce this policy for obvious, subversive reasons). I hope that Trump will restrict immigration altogether (especially from terror-prone/supporting regions), perhaps only permitting a negligible amount of high-skilled individuals to come here.

2-Geography and the borders with both the Arab-Persian Gulf and Gulf of Aden.
