Not quite like Ukraine or Moldova, but you're pretty right. It's a slap in the face of Romanians. We did indeed fight against corruption, maybe with a force not seen in Europe until now, and all that is now lost. Because poor, uneducated people (I don't blame them, they are just easily manipulable) voted for the most wretched hive of scum and thieves. And that's why people are prtesting. Not because they are the Africa of Europe, but because they want a better future for themselves, future that 2 days ago didn't seem so bleak.

Corruption in Romania has been steadily improving over the years, and Romanians were doing quite good job at it too. But now all the work of DNA is annuled and it's back to square 0.

Frenchmen protest more than Romanians. Romanians did not protest even when they were under a brutal IMF program which undermined the Romanian ecomomy and plunged many Romanians in deep poverty. They have been quite passive overall.

You won't see that in London, Berlin, Paris or New York. I'd rather live in Romania than France with all that degenerate post-modern avant-garde leftism, for example. But that is just me.
The post-modern avant-garde French leftist (and proud to be!) wearing a beret and a striped shirt that I am says thay he wouldn't mind visiting Transylvania in winter (btw, it's "Siebenbürgen" in German), but all things considered, quality of life is much higher in post-modern avant-garde France, thus it's a better place to live in my humble opinion. That explains why all Transylvanians come to live here (they choose Italy and Spain too)

Besides, I'm pretty sure that your sunday afternoon TV documentary concealed all negative aspects and focused on the idyllic side of the country.

"Corruption" is a pretty elastic term. The so-called "Anti-Corruption" campaign started a decade ago and went on since then. Romania is set by eurocrats as an example in the region, but at the same time is labeled as "one of the most corrupt country", go figure. Funny thing, though, according to statistics, one in five romanians is indicted of one form of the felony and since 1957 till 2015 just Russia and Turkey are ahead of Romania in the number of open cases at ECHR.

Modern Greeks are direct descendants of Ancient Greeks. All descendants are direct descendants. How can there be an indirect descendent of a tribe. All my families descendants are Direct. If the were not direct then they would not be my families decedents, but someone else's direct descendants.
Serbia didnt even exist at that time. It got its independence from the Ottoman empire in the 1800's.
