My sister and her Austrian husband are both fluent in speaking German as my sister learned High German and Latin at her secondary grammar school for several years, before working and living in Austria, welcoming and guiding large groups of tourists around the country, before returning back to England with her Austrian partner to have their daughters born and raised in England.
My two Austrian-English nieces are young children, but they're learning to speak in both German and English.
It's not a language I've ever taken an interest in though as I don't like the harsh sound of it. I've always been keen on French and Italian as I love the sounds of those languages.
