Yes the British Empire was extremely cruel and oppressive, and certainly compared to how much flak the Germans get for their bloody history, Britain's atrocities are ludicrously overlooked and ignored. Even History lessons at school teach little about this except the slave trade, and even then much of the talk is about William Wilberforce and how heroic and humane he was.
