What should be the best attitude of an immigrant to the host country and to its own origin?

I am of the opinion that is not good to only feel attached to the place you're living in. You have to proud of your roots, and don't forget where you come from.

However, I also think that you have to feel part of the place you're living in, and getting integrated to that place, and not only hang on your roots, like living in the past.

Don't getting adapted to the place where you live and only hanging on your roots, is a disrespect for the people from the host country where you're living in.

But on the other hand, only embracing the host country, and forgetting where you come from is a disrespect for the people you come from.

I think that an equilibrium between getting adapted to the land where you live, and at the same time, don't forgetting your origins, is the best attitude when you're an immigrant.

I think whatever you do and you are foreign immigrant (not a similar immigrant like european in a other european country to who rarerly someone objects) you cant do the right thing, best is not to be a immigrant but to live among your own people.

if you assimilate, you will be seen as selfhater and cultural appropriator, and they will you say "you are not one of us" and "dont touch our women", if you dont assimilate you "hate the host country" and you are "enemy" and "ungrateful immigrant"

edit: my vote still goes to an equilimbrium between host country and roots, thats what I do too, also I consider myself "world citizen"

That applies to people too foreign to Europe like Muslims, black Africans, etc.

It doesn't applies to full Euro, or mostly Euro descent people coming from western countries, like me. Latin America is part of the west, and full or mostly Euro descent people from there can perfectly immigrate to Europe or north America and end up being accepted if the do from their part to integrate. They would not have problem to integrate, because their countries already share many common western values with Europe or North America.

I think I said that already in my post. Look what I wrote before you respond. It applies to me, I was attacked for having the austrian flag for example that "im dirty and dont have right because im not austrian". If I rejected to have a austrian flag I would still be attacked as "ungrateful immigrant" and "enemy" that "I hate Austria"

Sorry, I didn't read thoroughly. I was predisposed because you had told me on another thread that I could not give my opinion in European issues.

That was because of completely something else, I never said you are not european or western. I said you live in USA and want to kick out non-european immigrants from europe and thats hypocrite. I would have said that about a Anglo-American too.

I like to give opinions of how I would like things to be, here and abroad. And Europe matters to me, among other things, because I am European citizen and lived in Spain. But that's fine. Is off topic to this thread. No worries.

Ok, i dont like to repeat myself from the original thread i posted on the subject but i'll say it differently;
Coming from albania, a "majority muslim country" i have zero problem if Trump sets up an ideological test for every entering immigrant and those already here for a long time. A clever ideological philosophical random tests. If yoi fail to pass it you should go. I have no problem. But trump sets the bar to low, he is simply not a clever ideological westerner, thats the fucking problem.
