Six thousand years? Was it really that long?

Having visited Turkey, the ancient Greek sites and even the remains of later Christian-era settlements were definitely a highlight. Also immediately apparent was how "non-Mongol" most Turks looked.

In a sense, modern Turkey did seem a little fake and fabricated, although I still liked it a lot. It reminded me of what leftists wanted to do to my own country, by corrupting and rewriting history, the republican narrative, new creation myths. Where they diverged was with the nationalism of Turkey versus the multiculturalism and tales of the non-Anglo immigrants who supposedly built our country and made wonderful, essential contributions to it etc.
