Default California vs South Europe: Climate Comparison

Is the whole of California comparable climatically with South Europe?

California is the only one to compare if we want to take in count Mediterranean Climate (Csb; Csa Koppen and the Dsb: the so calle Continentalized Mediterranean that you find in internal Spain and Turkey and in some few internal Sicilian and greek hotspots) that in Europe it s only typical of South Europe.

I doubt thought that anything South of San Francisco can be compared to south Europe (not even peloponnese, Sicily, andalucia, algarve). It seems to me that Los Angeles and San Diego are way too much hotter and get too much more sun irradiance than the extreme south points of Europe

Let's bring here also scientific infos and Graphs. As well as your personal opinions

I think San Diego has perfect weather and the best weather in the USA. Also San Diego doesn't get hot.

Is 73-76 F considered hot in Southern Europe?

"San Diego: Annual Weather Averages. August is the hottest month in San Diego with an average temperature of 23°C (73°F) and the coldest is January at 14°C (57°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 10 in July. The wettest month is February with an average of 53mm of rain.

The average low temperature in January for the country is 26.5 °F (−3.1 °C), and for San Diego it is 50 °F (10 °C). The average high temperature in July for San Diego is 76 °F (24 °C). The national average is 86.8 °F (30.4 °C).

There's no hot desert in Europe like Death Valley, Mojave or Sonoran Deserts, and San Francisco's weather is comparable to the Portuguese climate (L.A. would be Morocco).

But in broad outlines, yes, among all U.S. States, California looks the most like southern Europe. The desert of Almeria in Spain is very similar to the ladnscapes of New Mexico. Many wild west movies like The good, the Bad, the Ugly have been filmed there.

as for the temperatures in summer they are the same of south europe.. and south europe may get even hotter in summer because it hasn't the ocean except spian, the med sea act as a big boiler/serra making temperatures higher. in summer we reach easily from 30 to 35 C as highest temperatures.. and places such as the south of spain get even higher to 40C

but in winter temperatures are lower, we reach easily -5 and they don t go higher than 10

Most of California seems to be Mediterranean in climate except for Southern California.

My state is Louisiana, it's humid subtropical. It's humid and hot here most of the year.
