Astronomers discover 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting nearby star

Astronomers have found at least seven Earth-sized planets orbiting the same star 40 light-years away, according to a study published Wednesday in the journal Nature. The findings were also announced at a news conference at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

This discovery outside of our solar system is rare because the planets have the winning combination of being similar in size to Earth and being all temperate, meaning they could have water on their surfaces and potentially support life.

pretty cool although it says that it would receive 200 times less sunlight. The life on that planet will probably be more like fungi and deep underwater creatures.

How do you think the ecosystem would be like?

It also depends on the atmosphere, what it can retain. The tellurians in the middle of the system are good candidates for an ecosystem. Some receive as much energy, just not as much sunlight, because the star is closer.

Even at 40 light years, which is nothing relatively, it seems almost impossible none would have life in all these systems we found so far.

    The size of the system

According to the calculations they are tidal locked (like the moon for us). A bit negative feat for the emergence of life but who knows.
