I'd say rather it was the fall of the Soviet Union. Then, liberal prophet Francis Fukuyama, declared the end of history. It began, however, the French Revolution, at least as a symbolic event. Three ideologies fought for the throne of modernity and liberalism captured the throne with the fall of the USSR. Since then liberalism has been allowed to unfold its own contradictions into history, meaning its eventual death. Due to the nature of liberalism, it will be swallowed by the very thing it weaponizes. Liberalism more or less is the ideology of sea powers. Like Atlantis, like even Venice as we see now, liberalism will be swallowed by the sea.

Those porn videos were so funny. I saw one when I was 15. I was so shocked by it. It was a German one subtitled in English (as if you need subtitles for a porn video). It was filmed in a gym but the actors were pumping iron of a different kind.



That terrorism didn't affect South Africa. We heard about those incidents in the news but it didn't change anything in South Africa. Nobody cared about the IRA or the Lockebie bombing because it had no effect on us who lived 10 000km away. 9/11 had a worldwide impact although somewhat diluted in South Africa. Even today, we aren't affected by the Muslim-mania the rest of the world is experiencing. We read about the madness the rest of the world is experiencing but for us it is just a news article, that is IF it makes it to the newspapers. Usually it's just a small page 2 or 3 article consisting of a few sentences a week after the incident.

Many people don't know what is going on overseas. Anything that doesn't happen in South Africa is a vague concept. I wouldn't know about these things if I followed the South African media. The only reason why I'm clued up about it is because Apricity is one of my news sources. My husband is a high school teacher and many of the kids haven't even heard about World War I and II,

That is one of the plus points of living at the tip of Africa. Nobody is interested in bombing us. Middle Eastern refugees have no interest in coming here. We are still relatively isolated from the rest of the world in that sense because we are so far away from all the "action". We get to see the craziness from far, far away and are thankful that we are not affected by it.

During the '80s blacks who were deemed collaborators of the Apartheid regime often got lynched though. One method was especially brutal, called necklacing and some innocent people who according to ANC logic weren't enemies got killed too.
