Do people like you do it too to get white-like? Or is your light brown complexion sorta the "ideal"?

this is my naturally skin color, but they do it to look like me basically or lighter skinned, instead of jet-blue black or dark brown like most of the ppl there

Well, it can sounds very weird. But if you think, the logical behind is not so different of overtanned whites.

That's what they said in the end of the doc. but I don't agree with that logic.
White people try to get olive skinned or at worst light brown. That's not really the same IMO. They also don't relate that to being superior.

There are some weird examples of it, anyways
But you're mostly right. Whites do it for fashion, they are doing it for another reason. Bleaching skin is popular in eastern asia, south asia and latin america. You can read about panchito immigrants in Spain doing even plastic surgeries to look more european.

True. It seems that even in southern Europe where people are not so pinkish are obsessed with tanning. When I was in Romania, people would always tell me and my brother that we look "Alb ca branza" or white like cheese (white cheese that is). Whenever people went to Constanta to the black sea the goal was looking as dark as a gypsy. Even here in Norway I've heard people tell me a few time how I look unhealthy because I basically can't tan so I'm pretty pale year around. Even Sicilian-Americans are obsessed with being constantly tanned.
I feel like lately the trend has kinda died down a bit. It seems that pale women at least are back in fashion. During the middle ages it seemed like that was the ideal.
