Default What is the GEDmatch reference population for Palestinian and why do Palestinians score more Syrian?

Title says pretty much all. I asked this in another thread but I figured it deserves its own. Looking at the results of a few Muslim Palestinians and Arab Israelis I can't help but wonder why they all score closest to Syrian and Lebanese? What are the populations 'Palestinian' and 'Arabs_Israel' in the different tests based on and why are they often only the 5th or 6th closest population?

The Syrian average includes Bedouins. Plus most Lebanese don't get Palestinians in their top 6, and some even in their top 10.

I would be interested to see what Lebanese people get as their top 5 Oracle populations.

I still don't see the reason behind this. Do Gazans have a different genetic makeup than West Bank Palestinians or Israeli Arabs?

I found this Lebanese kit (M757015) just through googling. No idea if this person is typical, though according to this paper it looks like there are genetic differences between the different religious populations of Lebanon so that may affect things here.

They tend to look pretty brown, so I guess they are.

Bedouins do too, so them being included in the Syrian average should be a reason for me to NOT get Syrian for example
