Protectionism is bad in economy. Scottish Adam Smith was the first one to come to that conclusion in 1776. Then England repealed its "corn laws" in 1846. That how England became the "workshop of the world" during Queen Victoria's reign.
Trump is stubborn and refuses to understand that the economy of entire cities in the US relies on world exports (up to 30%) and thus, will be ruined.
As for my identity: I don't define myself as a Frenchman, but as a citizen of the world, an "Earthling". The whole planet is my garden, and I hate to see fences between gardens.
So, I guess I'll go for Macron, more than probably the next French president.
