I suppose the opposite would be one of those perfectionistic schoolgirls who take on 12 subjects and study their lives away, not meeting anyone other that the similar ones who have also taken 12 subjects. There were a couple of those when I was at school. The majority of them were so stressed out and the only way of keeping some kind of control of their lives consisted of developing anorexia nervosa.

They won all the prizes, got averages of 100% throughout their school career but were dreadfully unhappy with themselves.

I didn't realise the severity of this until I was a paramedic. I got called out to a number of scenes where one of them collapsed, so deprived of nutrients that they couldn't even stand up straight. The pressure of excelling at school and university made them phenomenally unhappy people.

I wonder if the majority of the pressure didn't come from parents. Just like the poor girl whose mother wanted to be a ballerina and never made it. Now the girl is forced into ballet classes, which she genuinely hates, simply because her mother couldn't achieve her own dream.

It's sad, and I hate having to say it, but contemporary women in the West, and the more Western affected parts of the world, behave and dress like the prostitutes of the 19th and early 20th century. I'd even say they think like prostitutes, many being incapable of loving anyone other than themselves, seeing only utility in a man. It hits very close to the Orthodox notion of sinfulness.

Then I look at women who try to be modest, but simply end up feeding their narcissism, pride, which isn't modest at all. "I am more modest than her, I am so much better." They are either hypocrites or they understand something is wrong, but are still too foolish to understand that they need guidance.

Too bad, because true modesty in a woman is real beauty.
