I like it, I love converted living spaces. I've seen some converted cathedrals, chapels, etc that look amazing.

Here's a very cool converted church in England. Too bad the decor is so crappy!

For as long as I can remember I've always dreamed about converting a building, such as a barn, a mechanics shop, a church, into a home. Well, some folks in the UK have converted done just that. They purchased a church for £92,000, spent £300,000 in renovations, and it's now worth about £650,000. I'm not sure that I could live in a home surrounded by gravestones though....EEEKKK!! Would you want to live here?

If it were my space I would've gone in one of two directions. I either would've played up the gothicness of it all with rich, dark colors, plush fabrics and dark wood detailing or gone very light, minimalist and modern. I hate the whole 90s country bumpkin thing they have going on. Light wood, blue couches and duck paintings? Blech.

It takes a special kind of person to come up with the idea of a moat (2 actually) and a bridge in a loft. That special kind of person in this case is David Ling, an architect. He converted a former dental factory in NYC into his own work/live space, with a moat and bridge separating his office and living space, and another moat separating the living space from the bedroom mezzanine. Now that's ingenius, and breathtaking.

Near me, there's Blaenavon, which is a World Heritage Site.

I used to work in this old grain shed until 2 years ago. It's offices upstairs, cafes and bars downstairs.
