I remember being inside a cab...driver was Murican as fuck. He had the AM radio on, and it was some PBS/voice of america something or another special on the Okies refugeess fleeing to California because of the dustbowl. It was playing in the background but the story narrated was hitting close to home...so I tell the cabbie to put the volume up.

He got quiet for 10 seconds to lisen to what caught my interest..and when he found it was some boring "Grapes of Wrath" radio special...he gave me a dirty look of disgust. This is when I realized:

So your worldview is based on your interaction with one driver? I dont even really know what to make of it honestly.

General American culture has assimilated different groups of people based on the commonality of opportunity and patriotism. While I think it is largely superficial in a lot of ways, it has actually been quite successful. But I agree that it's pretty sad that most Americans are not well educated about distinctive local cultures.
