Is one's musical taste subjective or objective?

The "rate the above song" thread got me wondering, do you think that all music is subjective or not? Can we judge and say some forms of musical art are inferior to others or not?
It's common to judge someone based on the music they like, despite musical preference (supposedly) being largely subjective. But why do musical tastes differ so, and why do we feel the need to criticise those with tastes that don't match our own?

Can we say and define that someone has poor musical taste? Debate.

I think technical skill can be somewhat objective to judge nevertheless. Perception of quality and perception of enjoyment are two separate things though.

I think the fact that these genres have endured for such a long time and have listeners of all ages is something. Think of the fact that old classical and old rock bands that don't make music anymore, still have millions of fans of all ages that support it. And the technical skills needed to play this music is superior to what is needed to play or sing pop or rap music for instance.

It's totally subjective i think when the rating includes just the way it sounds to you.When it comes down to the way it was produced,played and other technical stuff it can become objective,but the person needs to have musical knowledge to perceive music like this.

Musical taste is related with personal upbringing, but some musical genders are more tecnically complex than others, and that is true because of mathematics.
