New study regarding maternal lineages in Romania.

The study is quite new and the sample numbered 714 subjects. One of the main conclusions of this genetic study was that Transylvanians cluster closer to Central Europeans, Wallachians and Moldovans with Slavs and Dobrujans cluster far away from the rest of Romanians, somewhat closer to Turks.

One of the things that surprised me a bit is the Wallachians' affinity with Ukrainians regarding maternal lineages.

It's quite an interesting study which sheds some more light on the ethnogenesis of the Romanians people separated by regions.

mtDNA isn't useless. It's better imho than Y-DNA regarding migrations. But yeah, an autosomal study would be welcomed at this point

It's not useless, but a black dude can easily have the same haplogroup with a Irish man. Too many migrations have happened in Europe to make it a good way of determining genetic affinity, but you're right, it does tell us a bit about migrations.

Yes, because it's more linked with sedentary population than with casual rape which can happen during an invasion or something.
