More than any military conquest...the people of the Near east, you could almost hear their collective sigh of relief, when Islam came and simplified the concept of monotheism and completely banished the offensive dogma of Trinity. More so than offensive jihad, the jizya tax, or anything else...the absuridity of Christianity's creed is what led to Islam's early success.
This is why from 300 AD (council of Nicaea) to around the Monophysite controversy of emperor Justinian's time in the 590s...there were more than 2 dozen Heretical Christian groups in the MENA. These Heretical, gnostic, and so on cults were in their own pathetic (but admirable) way, shunning the ROME pagan influence that they could name, but felt in their fitra...and these were the people who became Muslim when they heard the Quran.
