My surname is very common in RM too.

if i remove the final vowel from my surname seems like its present in Romania too , Alba Iulia/ Sebeş zone. probably just a coincidence though.

I’m sure it is...i don’t think there are surnames spread exclusively in republic of moldova, except for the recent slavic ones.

This is common for names in general. The romanian version of many italian names is the same less the last letter. Sometimes the last letter becomes US or U instead of O. Examples: Mario vs Marius, Claudio vs Claudiu, Valentino vs Valentin. This can also apply to surnames perhaps
