Default Sweden Democrats win Facebook Political Grand Slam

Sweden democrats (SD) are now the biggest party on Facebook. This also means that they win the grand slam of all categories: Most followed, most liked, shared and commented, most talked about by followers, and most followed party leader.

Well, this is definitely impressive. In less than 10 years, SD has gone from a right-wing movement without a single MP, to becoming a political party supported by a fifth of Swedes.

Personally, I think that immigration into Western European countries has now got to levels where the host population is noticing the resultant change in their cultures. Immigration is not a bad thing but uncontrolled immigration in the numbers we have seen recently most certainly is.

The unfortunate result of this utter mismanagement by past left of centre parties around Europe is the rise of right wing anti-immigration parties like SD in Sweden, UKIP in the UK and FN in France. If you back people into a corner and deny them a say, they fight back through their ballot papers.

Yes and the only institute which has predicted elections, Norwegian institute Sentio, already says that SD is biggest party with 25% of the votes.

They had 26.9% in Sentio last month. The sentio of March will come any day now. Due to everything that has come up recently, nothing says that their support will decrease. I don't think there will be any significant increase between February and March in sentio. But I believe that they will increase a lot during the spring and pass 30% in any poll this summer.

The only thing that can make their support decrease is if Gustav Kasselstrand and William Hahne start up their more radical party soon. Do you think their party could enter the parliament?

I know that it was more than 25% but I didn't bother to pull it up again.

And concerning Alternativ För Sverige (AFS), I do think that they have potential to enter parliament. (4% is needed for that in Sweden.) There are many people who vote SD that aren't exactly happy about everything that the party does and stand for. If AFS uses a more dynamic, unapologetic approach, then they can attract more patriotic voters and civic nationalists alike, in sum anyone who wants to get Sweden on the right track. But they haven't even said that they will run for parliament in 2018.

Yea, I have think they have potential too. They can easily recruit a lot of people to work for them, but we will see if they will run for parliament first.

Johan Westerholm at ledarsidorna wrote two interesting articles about AFS. How they can completely change the political landscape of Sweden if they run for parliament. If a more radical alternative is starting to gain a few % of support, they will become the new "bad guy" and SD will be seen as a more moderate alternative. Which can open up for dramatic voter flows from the "shy voters" who are in the middle and are looking towards the SD direction in silence.

Yes, of course. Even more certain: Sweden surely will benefit from having right wing alternatives to choose from. The sum total of votes for parties which are against immigration will increase. When the same problems are addressed in different ways with the goal of saving Sweden, then it will be easier for people to take the message to their hearts, and to pick the alternative that speaks more directly to them.
