    No he tried multi-party system a couple of times. But islamists filled those parties and he had to close them... He was indeed a dictator if you consider 21st century. But at that time no democracy existed in Europe. He was less dictator compared to his counterparts. And he was no soldier he resigned first then he was elected to become a president.

    Well, he was smart enough to realize that Muslim monkeys cannot rule over themselves. Don't fool yourself pretending that he was a democrat though. There was democracy at that time from Greece to Britain, even if there were some coups in Greece during that period. He was dictator, plain and clear, while dictators in Western Europe didn't last that long, except for Franko and Salazar...
