    Default Any stamp collectors here?

I used to collect stamps when I was younger. Unfortunately I lost my collection during my travels around London. But, I am interested in starting a collection again of South African stamps. Those are the best

Hahaha, did you show them to your girl friends? We have a joke about it. Showing your stamp collection means naughty things here.

I didn't have stamp collection but had "blue things" collection when I was a kid.

Philately was never my thing even though I have a few stamps. I am more into numismatics and notaphily.

Loki, you would LOVE my and my grandmother's collection. Old Transkei and Ciskei stamps, the full collection of pre-1994 stamps. You name it, we've got it. Unfortunately my mom has them and she lives 600km away.

    Wow that's cool!

Give me some details of your collection please. Do you have mint or used stamps, or both? What about control blocks of four, or even full sheets? I really love SA stamps from 1961 - 1994, and also homelands like you mentioned.

Both mint and used, but most mint. Control blocks of fours or sixes, stamped and unstamped. I wish I had her albums here. I could take some pictures for you. She also had all collections from Germany, pre and post WW2. She was a stamp fanatic.

Wow! That's amazing. You make me jealous

My father was also a collector. He had a friend in Germany who sent him some rare post-WW2 stamps.

The worst is that all the albums, and there are many, are sitting in a box somewhere in the Karoo. My mom and I wanted to sell them because neither of us collects stamps. She approached a number of philatelists and they all want the albums, except they're not prepared to pay for them. Typical.

So now we sit with them.

Yeah, that's the problem. Philatelists won't pay catalogue value for it, but they would sell for it!

One thing you could do is sell them item-by-item on eBay. But that requires a lot of work and wait. By what you're telling me, it should be worth a fair amount.
