So it is now generally accepted that most of Cuba's population is mulatto or mixed race. There has been a large exodus to the US, consisting mostly of whites. Were whites ever the majority in Cuba before Castro? I know there is census data that says yes, but even now the Cuban census shows a white majority. So what was the racial demography in Cuba before Castro? Were mixed race people the majority already? And the same question comes to mind about Puerto Rico.
