For a lot of Americans, West Asians/Arabs probably appear like Southern Euro descent white people, while they expect them to look more exotic and South Asian-like. That's why lot of them mistake South Asians for near-easterners while near-easterners would then be seen as white people, unless of course clear markings like the hijab etc.

As for the culture thing, seriously dude, you can't even speak your own language. You should get "cultured" yourself, and learn more about your people, rather than accusing an entire country of 200 million people of having no culture.

And I highly doubt Gulf Arabs, Iranians, Iraqis would be confused for Southern Euros unless these are real ignorant people who think Italians are non-white. Turks, Levantine Christians, and Caucasians I can see being mistaken for Southern European but not the rest.

Exactly but I must choose something to identify on here and American wouldn't work since I am a foreigner despite being born here.

And Punjabi culture is Indian culture. Pakistan has no place in history since it didn't exist before 1947.
