Married teacher smiles in mugshot after being arrested for having sex with a student at her school

A teacher smiled in her mugshot after being arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a 17-year-old student.

Sarah Fowlkes faces up to 20 years in prison if she is convicted of the crime.

She has also been suspended from her job at Lockhart High School in Texas.

Despite this, the biology teacher grinned from ear-to-ear after she had her mugshot taken hours after celebrating her birthday with her husband.

Local police obtained an arrest warrant for Mrs Fowlkes, who turned herself in.

Police claim to have found evidence of messages sent between her and the student.

They said "the content was sexual in nature".

According to the Houston Chronicle, a school administrator had contacted the police about an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student.

In a statement on its website, Lockhart Independent School District said she been suspended.

"Parents entrust their children to us every day, and it is something we do not take lightly," Superintendent Susan Bohn said in the statement.

"Student safety is the district's most important priority. As soon as we learned of the report, we acted swiftly to involve law enforcement and CPS to conduct a thorough investigation. The district does not and will not tolerate any improper communication or contact between a teacher and child."

Local police officer Detective Jesse Bell told KXAN: "Seventeen years old is obviously older but at the same time it doesn't make anything right.

"If the kid is in school, parents trust the school to take care of their kids so it's definitely not right — that a teacher in a position of power over a student be able to take advantage of a student."

In the US, an improper relationship between an educator and a student is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

That's not right but let's be honest, young guys are not likely to be traumatized by events like this. We used to dream about situations like this when I was in HS

Hmm maybe, I think it is those cases which one is tutor and other is under 18 years old. Even being in age of consent, the condition of tutor forbids intercourse.

USA have a lot of curious laws and can vary according where you are. Remember the case of brazilian guy that fucked the daughter of a local bishop and he was to jail only because anal sex (sodomy) was crime in that county.
