iClever’s new folding Bluetooth keyboard is the only mobile keyboard I’ve ever actually enjoyed using, and a great investment for anyone that needs to work on an airplane, or just wants to get some typing done at the coffee shop without lugging around a laptop

iClever's Folding Bluetooth Keyboard Actually Lets You Work on a Plane

I’ve tried using several portable Bluetooth keyboards (squishy and terrible) and keyboard cases (squishy, terrible and bulky) with my iPad, but iClever’s new folding keyboard is the first one I’m going to stick with.

The keyboard somewhat apes the look and and feel of Apple’s official iPad Pro keyboard case, wrapping the exterior in a soft-touch, fabric-like material. The whole thing folds in half and closes with a satisfying magnetic click, and is only slightly larger than an iPhone 7 Plus when closed, meaning it should fit comfortably in just about any travel bag.

The keys themselves are extremely impressive given the keyboard’s ~$30 price tag. They’re a little smaller than you’d find on a full-sized keyboard, but they’re close enough that I didn’t find myself making an unusual number of typing errors. And though not quite as crisp as the keys on my MacBook Pro, they’re impressively clicky for a device this thin, and definitely the least squishy I’ve come across on a portable keyboard.

I suspect the only thing that will give a lot of you pause is the split ergonomic layout. Some people hate this, and it took me a few minutes to adjust, but it’s not so bad once you get into a good typing rhythm.

If you spend a fair amount of time at coffee shops or trying to get work done on economy class tray tables, this is almost definitely the portable keyboard you should buy. In fact, I used it to write this entire post on a plane.
