USA foreign policy doesn't strike me as a long term one.

We can witness a process, all the former europeans countries of the URSS are turning to the West. All of them (except Belarus but for specific reason).
What let you think Ukraine will be an exception? Why do you consider USA had push anything in Ukraine? They don't need, the russian incapacity to raise the level of life is enought.
