Why ugly men always attract the prettiest women

This is certainly in most of the cases not true. Although in some cases can be aplied, a less attractive man will drawn less attention from the remain competition (will give them a sense of security in that aspect), some women mostly the insecure ones (well they all have their insecurities to tell you the truth), don't want a partner better looking or in better shape than them, because this will make them extremely self-conscious, insecure about their looks/body.

I would be curious about the age of these women too, I bet they are in their 30's and settled down with the nice previously friend zoned provider after they came to the realization that "you ain't getting any prettier sweetheart"

A less attractive partner means less drama

Basically, most women may feel insecure with a very attractive boyfriend. I mean, handsome men know they can get any girl they want. So while they are with a girl, they will keep looking around on the side, keeping an eye out to see if a sexier gal passes by and well, women hate that because they like to feel special: they want to be the apple of their mate’s eye. Also, when they date a less attractive man, they don’t have to worry about other women constantly flirting with him, throwing themselves at him or stealing him. Women like to feel confident in their relationships and so will choose a safe mate: the less attractive male.

In a nutshell, it's just too easy for a handsome guy to get ass. If he knows he can walk into a bar and walk out with a hottie any time he likes, good luck trying to tie him down.

That is only true to a certain extent if said ugly men are rich. Otherwise, women are much more likely to be attracted to someone who looks like Chris Hemsworth than someone who looks like Eugene Levy.

That only holds true with respect to gold diggers, but not with normal financial stability seekers. With financial stability seekers you get negative points for being super poor, but not so many positive points for being rich. You get diminishing returns per each subsequent unit of wealth, beyond the point of financial stability.

'Beauty and the Beast' comes to mind here. The lores of opposites attracting also helps to prevent inbreeding problems too. I've read a lot about the lores of opposites and the secrets of nature too in LaVey's essays and books and studies about the carnal nature of the human animal. It's like having a relationship or a friendship with someone very talkative and with a very outgoing and bubbly ego would totally clash with someone in similar clothing and with a similar dominant or outgoing ego type in LaVey's drawings of the four different body types and their corresponding egos and the rules of opposites in nature. Dominant people complement and often fall for quiet and submissive partners instead, such as a librarian or quiet secretary, and vice versa with submissive and quiet types requiring the opposite qualities of dominance in their partner. It's not unusual either to see blonde females with dark haired scruffy and rough-looking male partners.... as opposites attract.
