Europeans are so different than Americans it would never work.

Europeans are secular, collective, generally believe in government, unionized and have polar opposite views compared to Americans on issues such as military action and expenditure as well as on things like striking and work ethics.

Europe is really not a default multicultural society in a true sense like America is. Sure Europe has multiculturalism but it never had a Civil Rights movement similar to what America had. Europe just has immigrants, it is not a nation or continent of immigrants by decree or by it's history such as the U.S. very much so is. Europe has not shed blood yet in respect to dealing with people of color like the U.S. has (Civil War) in modern times, yet I think it will.

Ironically Europe has now the same pill to swallow that the U.S. swallowed a long time ago in respect to large, non-European immigrant populations and their demands/needs.

Europe will have to substantially decrease it's welfare/socialistic policies in the future in order to realistically deal with less productive populations such as the U.S. has had to do for much of it's history. Socialistic welfare states work great when you have a majority European population. They don't work so great when you have masses of non-Europeans with different values/ethics weighing down the system.

Barack Obama is trying to run the USA like it's Europe. Why not just make him God-Emperor of the EU? How's that for united?

I'm sorry but I am a too strong European nationalist to desire a mix, though only cultural, with the USA. They share nothing in common with Europe and Europeans: do you know an European country which stll has the death penalty? Do you know an European country made only by immigrants? etc.etc.
Europeans are conservative, hard working, Europeans take in great consideration intellectuals, philosphers, historicians, E. are more classist.
I think that Europe in 10 centuries will still be a shining star on the planet, while America will get exhausted.
So... NO.
