I believe Turkish state and constitution is still one of the secularist, if not the most, of the world despite the ruling party tends to have religous motives.
For example, you cant see an MP taking oath on Quran while the westerners do on Bible.

USA regime change in the ME has not been really good, we do much better in C. S. America. I wonder what does regular Joe Syrian prefer, Assad government, or regime change and does that a vacuum and Terrorists running the country?

We copied French secularism not American or UK one.The French also don't have an oath of office which includes religious sayings or Bible.

Assad was already a dictator. And he has proved many times that he is a badass evil dictator. I think a regular Joe of Syria would prefer a democratic but a unitarian state.
