    Derbyshire's flag incorporates the Tudor rose, which has been a county symbol since the 15th century:

    The English rose is the emblem of the England Rugby Union team:

    I believe that legends and myth are largely made of
    “truth”, and indeed present aspects of it that can only be received in this mode; and long ago certain truths and modes of this kind were discovered and must always reappear.

    J.R.R. Tolkien

    Indeed it might be a basic characteristic of existence that those who would know it completely would perish, in which case the strength of a spirit should be measured according to how much of the “truth” one could still barely endure-or to put it more clearly, to what degree one would require it to be thinned down, shrouded, sweetened, blunted, falsified.
    Nietzsche

    To God everything is beautiful, good, and just; humans, however, think some things are unjust and others just.

    Catalonia's national flower is the ginesta, the weaver's broom.

    In combination with poppies, it symbolizes the national flag.

    The Tudor Rose of Henry VII was designed to symbolise the reconciliation of the rival royal Houses of York and Lancaster after the 'Wars of the Roses'. The Yorkist rose is white, while the red is from my Lancashire;

    You can buy a variety under the name of 'Lancashire' here, and I think it looks very attractive;

    Just like what Osweo pointed out:
    The Tudor Rose was the merger of Yorkist () and Lancastrian() roses.
    Although I read (can't remember where though) that this idea of "Tudor" rose was nothing but a propaganda tool meant to conciliate the Houses of York and Lancaster. And that the so-called "War of the Roses" was actually fought under the banners of Saint George and of the Welsh Dragon.

    Aye. King Henry VII married the Yorkist heiress Princess Elizabeth. See in the margins of this map of Lancashire; 'Blessed Are The Peacemakers!'

    'Nothing but' is over cynical. Henry VII didn't have to put the white in there, but he did.
    And that the so-called "War of the Roses" was actually fought under the banners of Saint George and of the Welsh Dragon.

    I'm inclined to see that as rather unlikely. I have read that the rival Houses weren't quite so firmly linked to the rose symbols as was taught later, and that nobody would have known at the time that they were living during the 'Wars of the Roses', but I can remember nothing of any detail.
