I honestly do not know what is distinctly of Turkish origin. The food of the Levant and Asia minor all mingles together quite a bit.
The famously 'Turkish' Kebab for example, has been found to have originated in the eastern med in the epipaleolithic era in its most primitive form. The word Kebab itself is of Arabic origin originally on top of that.
The way I view Turkish cuisine is like my mother's cooking minus her delicious Musakhan.
I know that I'm inevitably wrong, so what distinguishes Turkish cuisine from the rest of the eastern med?
