Suggestions for Travel to India

So there is a very strong chance I will be going to India later this year, probably in the Fall.

I will primarily be in the Northwestern part of India. Will be flying into Delhi, probably traveling to a Tibetan Monastery in the state of Uttarakhand.

However, I also plan to at least travel to Mumbai and would like to get suggestions from members here as to what else I should see.

Would like to travel through Rajastan if possible, and even possibly maybe make a flight out of the way to Varanasi, just because I've wanted to see that city since my childhood. It just looks otherworldly.

I love great historic sites. Also like any unique places of interest.

Please provide your suggestions, please don't throw out sites in Southern India or Bengal/Eastern India, I won't be around that area. Please try to stick around the geographic limits of NW India so I can put together a cohesive itinerary.

Well, go to Himachal Pradesh if you're going to Uttarakhand, they have lot of nice hill towns like Shimla, kasauli, manali etc. Rajasthan is known for its historical places, especially forts and castles, pay a visit to Jaipur or Udaipur there I guess. In Delhi, pay a visit to the Old city, which is full of history in every corner. Try to visit Agra too if you're near Uttar Pradesh for the Taj Mahal of course.

Why not? Yeah, it's not so developed, but the civilization and history are among the richest in the world. I'm actually really looking forward to this trip. India is the last great civilization I haven't seen. I'd much rather go to India than to Australia or something like that.

I haven't been to that part of India, so I can't comment that well, but I've had friends who said the train travel was good, but ask Purohitji lol he lives there.

I just don't want to see a good friend of mine to get hurt. I mean, I know people here who went to India for their vacation and they came back traumatized. Yes, it's a shithole. If you want to visit some exotic country or something, why don't you visit countries like Bhutan or Bangladesh or Nepal even?
