Victor Hugo books and Homer's Odyssey are very much the schooling here. Basic western culture.

Beowulf is the Anglo Saxon standard along with Shakespeare and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

The only reason why Saxons, Franks, Goths, Lombards (Italians) etc.. are Germanic peoples is because those are germanic tribes.

Group of Families = 1 tribe
Group of Tribes = 1 Tribal nation
Group of Tribal nations = Civilization

Romans lost Italy in 545 A.D, Anatolia 1300 - 1453 A.D, Africa 635 A.D etc.. Rome (Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia) at least Genetically those are Proto-European/African people.

Everything else are Either Germanic Civilization or Turkic (Mongols-Russians, Turks, Chinese etc)
We are a proud Germanic people that have a certain independence from the Continent of Europe.

I'm certain that it is it's own entity..

Anglos really have little to do with Germans or Scandinavians at this point. IDK if it was the French that got mixed in or what but.

50% of English words come from Norman French,, Anglo Saxon's certainly have Latin influences but so does German and Dutch but maybe not as much.

It's said a lot of our French-derived vocabulary is technical, though, as opposed to everyday vocabulary, which is Germanic.

I'm not sure where I read it. It may have been here or an article linked from here but it was about the English language and the fact that whilst the Normans introduced many loan words into the English language, that we still have the Germanic equivalents in use today also. That they were never replaced but both added to our incredibly descriptive vocabulary.

Technically yeah in early origins. However the Anglo-Saxons are extremely racists even considering Germanic as foreign. The proof is that they didnt hesitate for cooperation with Soviets for the destruction of Germany and Austria.
It's like Anglo-Saxons are their own race on their own. İt looks like the y have this mentality. Leaving the European Union is also a reflect of this feeling of superiority.
