I had make aikido and I can totally confirm this.
Maybe if you seriously practice it during years, it might be a bit usefull in real life situation. Otherwise I don't see how you can acheive to catch your opponent int he very specific way you need to control him.
That's the reason I stop this sport.

That's just Swedes fgt. My friend went to the army at only 18 years old. They have to do a lot of winter shit, he even got a frostbite injury on his arm. They take ice baths, do shit like go without food for days and there is even a exercise where he has to go into a gas chamber and say something to the effect of "commander, I ask for permission to leave this gas chamber", re-cite poems while in there etc. Norwegians are still quite tough, IDK about the rest of Scandinavia. In fact just yesterday, French courts ruled Norway unsafe for refugees.
