1.gypsy/zigeuner has very negative connotation maybe not racial slur per se, but historically and in context very negative
2.if someone would say "there is a negroe problem" "there is a muslim problem" "there is a jew problem" you would know its offensive and dont question it, almost no one would dare to say that like that.

Nobody would say there is a Muslim problem; come on - I don't believe that. I can here it all the time.
As I said - if he is a populists, his words are bad - if he wants to do something for integration of gypsy people - it's OK.

how would you feel if i said "there is a czech problem" if i were austrian politican and made a poster saying "in austria there is a czech problem" and you are czech. then you would know how we feel. come on you cant believe he wants to do something for gypsy integration he would not call them zigeuner or associate with nazi rhetoric "the nazis used zigeunerproblem" because it sounds like "a menace" "zigeunerproblem sounds like it is a menace" are you that naive, he would say we need to do something for roma integration not "there is a zigeunerproblem"

I am not sensitive about these (EE/WE) questions - I know how Germans look at EE - and I have no problem with it because I know how many Czechs look at EE.

As for Gypsies - I will be honest with you - we have anti-Gypsies politicians as well - but I can make you sure that nobody takes them seriously. Actually it has the opposite effect - these "politicians "help many people to realize that racism is a stupid ideology and that it doesn't solve anything.

I don't think so. There is clearly a problem with gypsies in Europe that they widely commit crime and live antisocial lifestyles. It is not racist to call this a "gypsy problem", because I don't think it necessarily implies that gypsies are the problem.

i think its racist, first because he says zigeuner and second because he says gypsy problem. he obviously wants to use nazi rhetoric to collect points. or he would have said there is a problem with many roma being criminal and anti-social, or he would propose a integration solution etc. he obviously plays on the nazi rhetoric, and to me it does imply that gypsies are the problem and it also sounds as if they are a menace, there is a gypsy problem does sound like that. even if you dont want to admitt it, just replace gypsies with any other ethnicity and you would know.

It is racist and offensive, but gypsies are certanly no saints.
Here in Croatia, they behave like savage niggers and feral shiptars.
Simply put, they don't want to be integrated.
There are however exceptions that prove the rule, but they are, well... exceptions.
